Ming Jing Studio
In April 2005, I travelled to Lhasa, Tibet for the first time. With my portable watercolor kit I painted a
series of plein air watercolor pieces while battling high altitude sickness.

The first painting shown below was done near the Lockhung Monastery and its market street is
packed with prostrators and tourists alike. I was looking out from the famous Magi  Amei Cafe.
Two of the paintings were done near the river bank of Lhasa river. Tibetans tie their praying flags on
posts near the river and on buildings. They are made of 8 different colors with Buddhist scriptures.
